  • White Screen in Viewer Window – no video

All of a sudden, the Viewer Window in my Final Cut is not showing video. It only shows a white screen with a little “x” in the upper right corner. The Canvas Window shows through fine after I put the clip in the timeline. My settings have not changed since the last project. Any ideas?

Most common issue is you’ve set the view to alpha only.
    check that and report back.
the least common issue is far worse.

Are you working with AVI files? I had some funky white viewer screens with AVI files I used a long time ago. Installing Perian fixed that.

Hopefully it’s just the alpha thing though.

Thanks for this post. I’m an occasional user of Final Cut and didn’t even bother to check the buttons at the top of the viewer window. My white viewer screen was directly due to it being set to Alpha!
