    Hello!

I’m working on a lower thirds. The bar is white, the type is black. It’s supposed to only be those two colors. The client wants a subtle lighting effect that animates in the bar so that it doesn’t feel too flat. I’ve been working on this all morning but am struggling with the bar staying white so it doesn’t get swallowed in the black of the background and the type becomes hard to read. Any one know if any good tutorials, or have encountered a problem like this before? I’m open to any suggestions!

    THANK YOU!

    H

You can’t make white brighter, so the white bar should only be white where the light’s “hotspot” is. This means that the white bar should be gray where the hotspot is not. You want the impression that the bar is a white object that only is properly lit under the hotspot.

    Does that make sense?

    Makes perfect sense!

    Thank you!
