White lines and double figures…
I captured 87 minutes of my feature off a DVD into FCP7, intending to make a little trailer. The DVD came from digi-beta and was shot on 35mm way back in 1980.
About 30% of the clips have odd white lines that outline a figure (head, face, body, etc.) I made a QT and noticed that one clip showed up as green (no image at all). And when I slow-mo it in timeline the first frame has white horizontal lines top to bottom.
They seem to appear around highlights, so I figure they are zebra fx but are white, not green. Also had a few freezes as well. Piece is less that 4 minutes. And wonder why that one clip shows only as a green screen in QT file.

What codec did you capture the betacam with? DV or?

Was no betacam, it was from a dvd master that was made from a digi-beta. It was a pretty big clip, 87 minutes and total 283 GB! That could be the problem?

You captured it to what codec? ProRes? SD or or HD or DV or? Or you transcoded the DVD files?

captured in ProRes, put the DVD thru streamclip to produce the QT file. I’m gone for 2 wks and once I get back I’m going to pick up with DVDSP and start at the beginning. Meantime I got a friend at an agency to make a DVD master from my QT file for my director friend.
I know it’s one of those things that once I understand it it will probably be simple. Took me a long time to figure out pan/scan.
thanks, all of you for trying to figure out what I did. Steenbecks were easier, just forward and reverse and an occasional light bulb replacement.
