    Hi,

When I place the letterbox matte in my timeline, after I export the movie, a white line appears through a majority of the letterbox, brightening and then dimming periodically. How does one get rid of this? Does the alpha channel or any transparency control need adjusting?

I’ve experience this annoying phenomenon in FCP and PPro. It’s a single line of pixels fluttering between the interlacing. I used to add a small amount of blur to the matte. Blur effect set to 1 should do.
Been working in full (anamorphic) widescreen and haven’t letterboxed in years so haven’t had problem anymore.

How many editors does it take to change a light bulb?

Letterboxing is actually something I now would avoid using with all the widescreens around, since your video will then appear as a small clip with black all around.

You would be better off leaving it as 4:3.
