White BG makes Text look like a low res jpg
I have an AI file that I’m bringing into AE that looks great until I put a white BG behind the elements. I thought it was AI, so I sent the elements into AE via Overlord which created a text layer that was also yucky when put on a white BG. So I created a fresh text layer and had the same issue.
Text looks GREAT over an empty black BG.
Text looks GREAT over an empty checkerboard BG.
Text looks GREAT over any color but white (including 1 off white).
Text looks like garbage over 100% white.
Now, here’s a fun thing. I was set to 32bit, and when I changed my project to 8 or 16, it looks great over stark white. So what’s the deal with the 32bit makes vector objects look awful on white?
I’ve found my solve just playing around to make this post, but I did just waste 30 minutes looking for a reason for chonky edges so I thought I’d share.
