  Which video frame rate and sample rate to compress DVCPRO HD (720p60) for YouTube?

  Hi, all.

  I need to compress some three-minute documentaries for YouTube. They were shot by a professional cinematographer with a Panasonic HDX900 camera shooting 720 60 in HD mode. The footage was captured into FCP 7 in full resolution as DVCPRO HD (720p60) at 59.94 fps. I edited it uncompressed.

  For YouTube, which video frame rate should I set when compressing: 59.94, 29.97, or 30? The YouTube Help page says to use 30 but I don’t know if that applies to my video. Which video frame rate will look better, move more smoothly–less jerking etc– and be in synch?

  For audio, which rate do I use 44 kHz or 48 kHz? I think 48 because that is the audio rate listed in my clip inf but I don’t know. I see 44 kHz posted frequently in messages regarding YouTube.

  Also the frame size in my FCP project says 960 X 720. Do I set Dimensions at “Custom” 960 X 720 or go with 1280 X 720 HD? The videos I put on YouTube are all set at 1280 X 720 HD.

  Any other tips for compressing these videos would be appreciated. As you can see, camera pans and moves on still photos stutter. (In the original uncompressed footage, camera pans stutter, too.)
