  • Which version of AE for Windows will work?

I’d like to try the demo version of Twixtor to see how it will handle adjusting the speed of some film telecined at 23.976 down to around 16 or 17fps.

I have AE 6.5 around somewhere but not sure it will install on here. One place on the Vision Effects site says it needs AE v7 and another says AE v5.

Can anyone tell me if this will work for this application?

I know it’s impossible to say but what kind of rendering speed can I expect using the BlackMagic 10-Bit codec in and out with a dual Intel 3Ghz system?

    Thanks!

You can always download the previous version (Twixtor 4.5) in the download section at our site – press Download Previous Installers – but that will not be as fast

…sooo are you saying the current version DOES need AE7?

If I want to go with the older 4.5 is there any break on the price?

How much slower or faster is one over the other and is the end result
    the same for my needs??

Hate to sound like a complete noob but…

I installed AE 6.5 and version 4.5.11 of Twixtor. Been a while since I’ve used AE but can you tell me where this should show up so I can see if it did, in fact, install?

    For pre CS4:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe After Effects \Support Files\Plug-ins
    and equivalent on Mac

At Twixtor V5 we shifted to auto-installing in right place 🙂

OK Thanks. Now it shows up under Effects.

If I’m starting off with telecined film at 24fps is it best to remove the 3/2 pulldown BEFORE applying Twixtor to alter the speed or does it
take that into on it’s own account?

At the begining of the User Manual it says:

    Before You Start, EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.
    Common problems discussed here!
“Another note on fields… if you have 3:2 pulldown in your source footage, you will want to remove 3:2 pulldown before processing with Twixtor. Duplicate fields will cause Twixtor to create incorrect inbetween frames. ”
