Which Nvida 4000 Card
Posted by Dario Sabina on August 23, 2011 at 11:18 pmHi Folks!
I’m trying to build a system for a Resolve Lite at first.
Searching the NVIDIA page, I found that there are 2 options for the NVIDIA 4000 Card for Mac,
What is the diference betwen them an what is the most recomendable.https://www.nvidia.com/object/buy_now_results_ci.html?id=QD4000MAC
Mac Pro 8 core
ATI Radeon HD 5770Thanks
Best regards

August 24, 2011 at 1:37 amThe Mac version is the one to use for a Mac Pro although it will also works on non-Mac systems.
The standard (non-Mac) version may not work and is not supported on a Mac Pro.

Thanks on your fast reply, but i’m still confusing
I understand that i must use a Nvidia 4000 for Mac, but under this tag in the NVIDIA webpage, there are 2 cards to choose from.
This is the link

August 25, 2011 at 11:11 amThe non-mac version definitely does not work in a Mac or Cubix expander connected to a mac.
I have two PC quadro 4000’s for sale if anyone wants them…. $1,000aud for both.

August 25, 2011 at 6:03 pmJust to clarify, I’ve got a Quadro FX 4800 which will run inside my PC workstation, or inside a GPU-Xpander connected to my PC workstation. It will not work if installed in a Mac Pro, or if installed into a GPU-Xpander attached to the Mac Pro. OS-X requires a version of these cards with firmware specific to OS-X (or if you’re fortunate, a flashed GTX 470).
Like others in this thread, I’ve also heard that the OS-X specific NVIDIA cards can be installed into Windows or Linux machines with the proper drivers loaded and run just fine.
