  • Which formats Premiere accepts? Video not visible in source and output windows.

    Hi.
I am using Premiere Pro CS3.I have been working on a small documentry.I shooted my footages with a camcorder which delivered output in MPEG2 format.Everything was going fine, Premiere was accepting my MPEG2 format files( with audio). But after some time Premiere still imported my MPEG2 video footages but with no audio. So I decided to convert my MPEG2 video files to audio wav. format and imported them to Premiere Pro to sync them with the video files(without audio) I have imported earlier in Premiere. This is how I have been managing….

But my real problem started when I opened my this particular documentry film project on other computer. Premiere CS3 refussed to show any footages neither in the source window nor in the output window. It showed instead a brown color screen in the source and output windows much like the red color screen which appears after the files have been unlinked.

I wish to know does Premiere accept MPEG2 format….? If yes then whats wrong with my project?
Which are the formats that Premiere Pro accepts happily?

Is your audio mono or stereo? I know later versions of Premiere allows native editing on a large number of formats and their consumer codecs, including MPEG-2. Not sure about CS3. I’d imagine it does.

Thanks Abhishek Kumar for replying..My audio is in stereo….I managed to run my film project in Premiere in one of my friend’s machine. Its running perfectly on my machine and my friends’ machine but still I can’t figure out why I cant run my Premiere film project on the second machine I tried earlier…

Tom, I noticed you work with Adobe After Effects. A colleague of mine was trying to help me solve a problem I’m having with importing an HD Quicktime video into my Premiere Pro. All I get is a green screen. He then tried importing the same Quicktime video into After Effects and got the same results. The video was downloaded from a photo/video collections service. Ever heard of this problem?

Please give me more details what is the format (size) and codec (compression) of the media. Can you give me a link to where you got i?
It sounds like the Adobe software doesnt know what kind of media it is.
So Im guessing its codec related. But getting the info might help clarify things.
