  • which files exactly to move?

    Hi all!

I thought I knew the answer to this, but not sure after looking and reading.

Last week, I purchased the new iMac and I forgot this computer has the new firewire 800 port, so I ordered (2) new cables (that are not here yet) one a 400 to 800 cable and the other a camera to computer 800 firewire.

My external drive has a recent project that I have not started editing yet, but I need to.

Since this project already has been log and captured once to the an external drive (and my editing program was originally on an old G4 that went out) I see no reason in having to capture it again – if possible.

“So which file or files would I drag over from my external drive to my new iMac – which now has my editing program on it?”

NOTE: I have connected my external drive using a USB to my new iMac. But my iMac won’t recognize my GL2 camera through a USB for some reason…only firewire (I think final cut only uses firewire anyway)

    Thanks so much….happy Halloween!

You need the media files and any graphics and audio files you may need for the project. You can use media manager to copy or move the media for a project from one location to another. Apple does not support the use of USB drives with video applications.

    All the best,
