  • Which codec for editing ?

    Hi,

I’m looking for a codec (PAL) to do editing stuff. We do 3d animation, rendered as stills, some effects and so in compositing, and actually I export each sequence an uncompressed avi. Then I do editing in premiere pro, to finnally export it on DVD and QT.
Using uncompressed for all sequences is a bit tremendeous as it is very heavy on the hard drive, so in backups, and it is quite slow while editing.
So I’m looking for a PAL codec which is lighter than uncompressed, but keep very high quality as all will be finnally encode to QT or mpeg2 (dvd).

Also, I have a project now where we do all animations and compositing, but another studio will do editing. So such a codec would be helpfull.

Does it exist such a non destructive compressed codec ?

    Thanks

    Kib
