  • Which card for PPro?!

    Hello all –

I am in search of a HD card for PPro that will allow me to have realtime capabilities, not just for previewing but for outputting as well. I’ve seen the Matrox Axio in action and it is very nice and does what I am is search of but…it’s just a bit out of my budget currently. Formats to be edited would range from DV to D5. System would be dual cpu, dual core Opterons.

Can anybody provide input on any of the following HD I/O card solutions in regards to how they perform?

    – AJA Xena LH (would need Cineform’s Prospect HD?)
    – BlackMagic Decklink HD Pro 4:4:4
    – Bluefish HD/Lust

Maybe there is another solution that I am not aware of?

Any insight / advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!!

    AC

Without a doubt, the Matrox Axio is a pretty compelling system.
Sure it costs more, but when you add the costs of all the otehr things you need with any proper HD system, it is not that bad.
The storage is the killer, but you can skimp if you are not uncompressed HD.

Matrox implemetation of Premeire Pro is great on the Axio and on the DV only RTX100.
It’s a bit like cruise control and power windows. Once you use it it’s hard to go back to the native PPro editing.
