Which audio track is this?
I’ve never known how to do this and I bet it’s ridiculously simple:
My source has four tracks of audio.
I build a sequence with many audio tracks and begin placing audio clips everywhere.
So now I have an audio clip somewhere in my sequence on track 5, but I pulled it from audio track 2 of the source clip.
Matching back to the source pulls up the clip, but I have to listen to the four tracks again to find out which track I used in the sequence.
Isn’t there an embarrassingly simply way for me to know which audio source track I used for a random audio clip in my timeline?
Come on, someone make me feel stupid and make my day at the same time.

Match frame the audio clip by using the track light buttons.

Sorry… I mean “Autoselect” lights… turn them all off in the timeline, except for the one whose audio track you want to match frame. Then type f. The track’s master clip will open with the matched track in the front of the Viewer window. If you don’t know where these lights are, search that term in the manual… they are next to the buttons you’d use to map the viewer’s clip tracks to the timeline’s tracks.

Thanks, Jerry. I thought that’s what you meant, and I’ve tried just that. Match Frame pulls up the clip with Video in front.
Interestingly, “Match Frame to Source” does pull up the clip with audio in front, however A4 is the track that shows in front no matter what clip I select in the timeline and no matter what track it’s on, even when I know the clip came from A1.
I’m still feeling stupid, but I want to feel stupider by finding what I’m doing wrong…

You’re not crazy. It always brings up the last audio track in the file. Looks like it was supposed to do it, but AFAIK there is no way to do this. The autoselect lights will make no difference either. If you want to match a clip, just highlight the clip with the playhead over it, and press F, shift F, or cmd option F, depending on your needs. But, it will never tell you where the audio track came from from what I can tell. Obviously the system knows. Yet another update/bug that will never happen.
