Is it really needed? I never thought it was. Just annoying to have to check both forums… I mean what was the criteria for basic? What is basic to one person might be rocket-science to another. It never made any sense to me. Basic or advanced, a question is a question and deserves an answer.

+1 Cow Culling, which sounds much more clinical than slaughter.

John, I’ve always assumed the ‘Basic’ forum was for Movie Studio users and the main forum for Vegas Pro users. They are two different products albeit related and have their own Sony forums. Rather than ditch the Basic forum it would be better to rename it to Movie Studio.

Of more serious concern is what has happened to all the useful info in the Basic forum, especially your own useful contributions.

I mailed Tim @COW about the particleillusion forum and he said that they were planning to make the ‘legacy products’ forums available again ‘shortly’ – so maybe it will return as part of that work. I agree with the JR’s comment’s – I don’t believe there is a need for two different forums – but access to the info in them is invaluable. I hope they return soon.

I believe there is a need for a separate Movie Studio forum otherwise there will be much confusion. Many of the Vegas answers won’t be applicable to MS because there is so much it doesn’t have that Vegas does.

You Know, at first glance i would say the basic forum was not really necessary. But then thinking about it,
it is actually, but should really be named “Movie Studio”. Because Vegas Pro has many additional features that
the Movie Studio versions does not have, and should be addressed in a separate forum for Movie Studio users.

The only problem is that basics forum was not for Movie Studio. It was a Vegas Pro forum with plenty of Vegas Pro related posts. I agree that we shouldn’t loose the content. It would be nice if both forums could be combined so that no content is lost but I don’t know if the forum software can do that.

    Stewart,

Can you also email your contact Tim @Cow to see why the ParticleIllusion forums were removed? No notice and there was a ton of information that is still useful. Since GenArts is still selling ParticleIllusion, I am not sure why the forum was removed.

    Thanks!
