Where to get heIp with your Artist Color panel
This has always been a tricky issue (and the making the Artist Color work has always been tricky too). Dwaine here does what he can, but Blackmagic really just interfaces with the panel, they don’t make it. Avid, which does make it, charges $60 for a support ticket – which I get when it comes to their editing software but just doesn’t seem right for this. The Avid Community Forums have always been the best alternative for a paid support case (unlike the Apple forums, Avid moderators do actively participate in the forums). However despite recent indications, so far there’s no Artist forum there.
So – turns out that the Avid Pro Tools community (https://duc.avid.com) does have an Artist forum – and from now on this will be my go-to destination for hardcore EuCon issues. With 5,300 posts there might be more wisdom accumulated
Interestingly, the audio guys voice a lot of frustration with the Artist panels, a view which I share. The EuCon Ethernet protocol is very finicky and touchy, and if it’s not working for you you could be in for a lot of pain. I’m personally considering switching over to the Tangent Elements. It’s more expensive but it works on Speedgrade as well as Resolve – and it doesn’t use EuCon 😉
