  • Where to find old black & white Stock footage of italian cuisine?

Posted by Cale Switzer on November 1, 2011 at 3:10 pm

Hello, I am looking for some stock footage of old italian cuisine being eaten/made/served for a spot we are producing for a restaurant. Does anyone have some recommendations? As of right now I haven’t had much luck finding any. Thanks for your time.

It’s unusual for stock footage to be particularly old. If it’s appropriate you could take some modern footage and add some filters to make it look old, but if it really needs to be old you might have better luck searching news archives (although that would probably cost more that stock footage).

In the meantime, a genuine news report (just check the date) for your amusement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27ugSKW4-QQ

Issues of copyright aside, there was a great one online at Internet Archive but I can’t find it right now. But there may be clips of interest at https://www.archive.org/search.php?query=drive-in%20ads%20AND%20mediatype%3Amovies

That’s going to be pretty specialized most likely and you’ll probably need to look at something like Getty images to find that. Will be expensive. As others have suggested, through filters and color grading you can make anything new look as old as you want.
