October 12, 2005 at 1:41 amHi Bret and all,
The conversion software showed up with a couple of minor bugs and we thought it prudent to hold off until we got it right. We’re doing some more testing and as soon as we believe folks can use it confidently, we’ll release it on our Panasonic web site. Down loads will be free. By the way, currently it will work on a PC platform. We’re looking at a MAC version sometime down the line. But please forgive us for wanting to get this one right from the get-go to save you all some frustration.
Thanks for understanding.

October 12, 2005 at 2:28 amConsidering a large number of Varicam owners use Final Cut Pro, a Mac version should be a priority.

We are hand loading the data but it’s a real pain. Esp since we cannot look at the data expect in the raw file data format.

Let me first say that I love my F model. It makes a beautiful picture and while I originally bought it because I couldn’t afford a CineAlta I am so glad I have what I have. But let me tell you what a lot of Panasonic owners and operators would like to tell you and I’m sure a lot have.
Sometimes Panasonic is a bit skitzo. The H model didn’t just happen one day. All of the changes took engineering time. The apple connection is really something that needed to be addressed way back then. The past few months it appears the windows is getting more attention from you and apple is getting moved to the back. It makes the herd nervous. And being a member of the herd, I can’t help it when my mind takes me back to the Hawk Eye. It still makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck.OK all of that aside. I really love the VariCam and so do my clients.
best

November 7, 2005 at 4:09 amWhy even make the H not compatible with the F this makes no sense, I am really disappointed with how Panasonic is going with things I mean come on you make a product that works great with Mac and get everyone who was PC before to go Mac to use your product and then you say your solution is coming out for the PC first. Come on Jeff I still never forgave you for selling me the FRC by saying you would never sell the software and then 3 months later you announce that you gave the software to Final Cut.
