  • Where is the expression error message displayed?

Pardon, its been awhile since I’ve tinkered with an unknown expression. I have the little yellow triangle that tells me that I have an error in the expression, but I can’t for the life of me find a description of the error. The manual says “click the warning icon to view the error message again,” but I click it and there is no message. Is there a console/message window somewhere where the error is displayed? Its hard to debug an expression if I can’t find a description of the error. I’m in AE CS5.5 on a mac.

    Thanks,

    -Matt

That’s strange. Clicking the triangle should give you a modal dialog box with the error message.

Thats what I thought I remembered. I did finally figured out my bug without it, but for some reason the error description box isn’t popping up anymore in CS5.5. Is anyone else having this problem on a mac? Its making scripts even harder to debug than usual. I’d wondered if they moved it. I really wish AE had some sort of console/message window that you could print script variables to for debugging purposes.

I just stumbled across this same problem – it seems there are several odd bugs with how AE CS5.5 is playing with the WindowManager (I’m on 10.6). I’m assuming you haven’t figured out the solution yet. I’ll let you know if I find anything.

Trashing preferences just fixed this issue for me.
