Hello everyone, I just purchased a Sony HDR-TD30V 3d camcorder and I’m ready to get started playing around with it. I thought it would be easier… I have Adobe MC CS6 with Premiere Pro.

The Sony camera creates one single file. I’ve imported it into Premiere and see just the single file on the timeline as if it were a 2d video. So that’s where I started my research. I purchased QuickS3D Lite Version for Windows to use the plugin (however it’s the weekend and I could not get support yet from them to see how to enter the activation code – so that plug-in could answer some questions once working).

Next question is: Is there a particular method/plugin preferred for working with 3d files? I’ve seen old tutorials from CS5 talking about the left and right videos (which I don’t have with the new Sony camcorder). Any points in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

    Here are my computer specs:
    Gigabyte H55-USB3
    i5 760 @ 2.8 OC’d
    Kingston HyperX 16GB DDR3 RAM 1600MHz
    NVIDIA GeForce GT610 video card
SSD 120GB – Samsung 840 EVO (used just for operating system)
    750 watt power supply
    Windows 7 64-bit

Seagate Barracuda 3TB internal drive 7200rpm
Western Digital 320GB drive (previously used for operating system) 7200rpm
Western Digital 4TB drive (backups) 7200rpm
    Toshiba External 3.0 TB (backups)

For all the emphasis on 3D there has not been much in the way of discussion on the COW about actual production tips.

Try this article from Adobe – a bit dated but might point you in the right direction

Hey Mike, thanks for the reply. I have seen that link and it doesn’t help as it refers to filming with with separate videos, left / right side. The Sony cameras record with one single file.

I have found out they can be converted using Pavtube MTS/M2TS Converter and then brought into Premiere and then using a plugin by Vision III Imagine (which of course is not installing properly).

So I’m working my way there, one slow step at a time. I’m just waiting to get an image to give the impression of coming outwards from the screen like make samples I’ve seen… Thanks again.
