  • Where can I find the Blackmagic codec?

Posted by Frank Ruggiero on August 20, 2009 at 1:41 pm

    Hi Cow members.

I am in search of Blackmagic Quicktime codecs. My client is sending footage captured with a Blackmagic card. I can only locate drivers on the Blackmagic website, but no codecs.

Off hand, would anyone know a link that can get me to a page for the codecs?

    Thanks in advance..

Have you tried importing the files without installing any codecs?
The BMD codecs are 2vuy/uvuy codecs, and I understand AE CS4 should be able to handle them directly.
I haven’t tested this myself, though. Please try it and let me know.

    Hi Adolfo,

It turns out that my client sent Pro Res captured files instead of Blackmagic…But I was able to find out that you get the Blackmagic codec installed when you download one of the drivers for the card. They bundle the codec with the drivers. So if you are looking for the codec, just download the driver package off the Blackmagic website.
