Where are FCPX project files stored? I’ve read that projects and events are stored in libraries, but I was wondering if there are specific files that are only project files, like how it is in FCP7.

If I want to send someone just a project file because they already have all the footage (so they don’t need the library or events), where is that file stored? Thanks!

A library is akin to a project file of FCP7.

FCP7 had a project file with a sequence in it.

Libraries can do the same. It’s a Library file with a Project in it.

Make a new library. Drag and drop your Project in to the new Library, making sure to keep the media external.

The new library should be small, and you can zip it up and email it.

You can share via export to XML but Libraries are the best way to share complete projects. Pulling the project file itself out of the Library is not recommended.

I’ve never had to do this but can you use just the the project file and copies of the original card folders to recreate a project in FCP X?
