  • Where are all the export options??

Posted by Aj Robinson on October 17, 2012 at 4:09 pm

In older versions of motion, you used to be able to customize what your export! Now, in Motion 5, it’s got the pidlyest section of exporting options! Is there anything else I can do??

    Thanks guys,

Yes, you lost the ability to do the Animation codec. One of many reasons why I’m still on Motion 4.

I believe, but I’m not sure, you have more codec options in Compressor which you can send your Motion project to. I’m assuming someone on that version will clarify this.

Stephen is quite right – except that the best way to do this now is to use the Export using Compressor Settings rather than Send to Compressor as it saves quite a few unnecessary steps.

You can of course use any codecs and settings that are supported by Compressor (including Animation) which really gives you a lot of flexibility, so I’m not sure you’re really losing anything that you didn’t have before. Unless of course you don’t have Compressor installed …

    [AJ Robinson] “Compressor=more money.”

    You’re kidding, right!!??? 😉

Compressor is a complete steal at its current price – I’m not sure how you could justify not buying it!

Regardless, that’s another $50 bucks I don’t have. Since mowing season is over, i’m broke again.
Plus I’m not really doing any real videos so I don’t exactly need that right now, I was just wondering.
I see now, apple took it out of motion and put in another program- to make you buy it. Right?

That is true, but they lowered the price so it is cheaper if you are a new user to buy FCPX, Motion & Compress. Then it was to purchase Final Cut Studio 2.

I think you can do a work around if you where to export as an image Seq. Then build it in FCP.
