  • when upconverting from DV to 720p, Apple Prores or Pro Res HQ???

Posted by Nick Natteau on January 10, 2014 at 6:14 pm

I’m using my Kona LHi and Premiere Pro to ingest and up convert my footage.

But I’m not sure whether I should be using Apple Pro Res or ProRes HQ as my up convert result.
Would there be any noticeable advantage to using Pro Res HQ instead of Pro Res proper when upconverting from DV???

    Thanks very much in advance.

The only gain in using HQ would be file size. HQ is meant for 10 bit camera formats…DV is 8-bit. Just use ProRes 422.
