    Hello all,

I’m working on a short film with several scenes in foreign languages, and I just noticed a puzzling issue concerning subtitles. I exported the movie and no matter where I watch it (quicktime, VLC player, vimeo) every time the subtitle appears, the overall color of the picture ever so slightly changes. When the subtitle is gone, the picture changes back. Again, this is a very slight difference, but a noticeable difference.

Any ideas of why this happens or how to fix this?

    Thank you,
    Kyle

What was the codec of the footage you edited? What were the sequence settings?

    Subtitles made inside FCP?

    Hi Shane,

Prores 422 (HQ) for both. And yes, the subtitles were added inside Final Cut

And the color is fine in FCP…only when you compress it? So an exported full res QT, fine? But once compressed…then the issue?

In FCP the color is fine, but even a full res QT export has the issue.
