When you say “black background”, where does it come from?

I’m not sure what to say David.
I recreated this title, rendered it out as DV-AVI, MPG-2 and WMV (3 mbps) and brought all 3 back into Vegas.
They all looked identical on the scopes and I didn’t see anything like you’re describing.
My suspicion, and that’s all it is, is that it’s either your monitor or (more likely) Media Player and not Vegas that’s at fault.

i guess it’s a non-issue. i use WMV as an intermediate on my way to Flash. there are no borders around the flash movie, i was just concerned that i may have overlooked something in vegas.

I don’t know if this is related at all, but I have always found Window’s Media Player, and subsequently any other media players that just act as a an intermediary for window’s built in video playback, to be a little random. I haven’t tried in Vista but ever since XP first came out, I’ve been able to play the exact same file and have it look two entirely different ways. Almost as though there’s a brightness/contrast filter that sometimes gets applied to playing videos. If I set up a series of videos to play, or the same video playing several times in a playlist, it pretty much does it to every other instance like clockwork. I don’t know if that’s a common problem, but perhaps it could be what was affecting David? Either way, my solution has always been to not use (or at the very least not trust,) WMP.
