When is 3:2 pulldown necessary?

Hi,

I am about to be adding a CG character to a live video plate. The video will be shot with a HD camera and at 24p. I will be doing the compositing as well, in AE. Now I am extremely new to this. What should I be doing in terms of this pull down? We will be using Bou Jou to track.

What should I be doing in Maya before I render in order for it to match the video(I mean in terms of frame rate/ field versus frames rendering).

I hope you can help a poor guy out!

Yeah I can set Maya to run at the same frame rate. Not sure about rendering fields or frames though, I will check that out.

So I ask for the editor to remove the pull down? When I get it, what will be different from not having the pull down removed? and when I render out from AE do I add the pull down in? If so How do I do that?

Sorry for being such an idiot, but tech things aren’t really wired in my brain.
