when importing,reducing quality?
hi everybody…i have a sony dvd videocamera…i am taking a short movie…the videocamera writes onto dvd which is rewritable,then i import the dvd in vegas…i see the movie reduced quality.i say it reduces,because when i play the dvd in dvd player,it looks perfecti,bu as i said before,when i import into the program.it doesn’t looks so good,at least, it’s not as good as its in dvd player…what is the problem..how can i avoid that…pls help…

Chances are that you’re seeing it reduced due to how your Preview Window is set up. Set preview window to Best/full, and it should appear perfectly. However, it also is too high of a resolution for Vegas to be editing MPEG, so you’ll likely want to leave this setting at Preview/Auto

so is that mean…when i render it out as wmv file or mpeg file,it will look as good as it is on dvd player…it is important,because after the rendering i will use the file in After effects for adding some effects…you know that it is important not to lose pixels when tracking motion…i tried to make some effects into video which is rendered in vegas as wmv,i couldn’t make it…i hope this works…thanks for the answer..

Yes, when you render the project, it will be equal to or near the quality which you began/shot with. However, it’s MPEG, so there is some loss. How visible the loss is will depend on how much you did to the frames. If you do nothing to the frames, on a first pass/render, you should not be able to detect any difference between the camera content and the final render.

last question…are you saying that there is a difference between preview mode and best mode(probably there is).why dont i see it exactly,because,now vegas is open and i am working on a project including video,when i change the mode from preview to best i dont see any difference.
if i would have rendered my ex project as best mode not preview mode,i could have the same quality,right?…
bye the way,when i render any files as wmv,for 3 minutes project i get 15 mb wmv file..if i would do that as mpeg file..what would be the file size…
