Firstly hello all. I have been here many times for answers and this site has been incredibly helpful. Thank you for that.

I use Sony Vegas HD Platinum. I have a simple problem. I have been editing a band video for a few weeks and everything was great.

But somehow, when I now select to delete a few seconds of video the entire timeline for that track shifts when I want a gap!

Please guys, it is stupidly simple. What on earth have I clicked to make this happen?

You have Auto Ripple enabled (it’s a toolbar icon).
Disable it and things will be back to normal for you 🙂

Chris, don’t beat yourself up over an honest mistake. I’ve been using Vegas since version 1.0 and that still catches me at times when I’m not paying attention 🙂

This is an easy one, Chris, but only if you know what you are looking for.

It sees that you may have selected the Auto-ripple button. It is at the top of the screen a few along from the Undo / redo buttons (which you may be more familiar with!) Just hit ctrl and ‘L’ and that switches it off.
