When I copy a layer, AE saves and crashes
Hi, I’m having trouble finding anyone with the same problem anywhere on the internet so here goes:
In AE 15.0.1 on a 2018 iMac Pro, when I select a layer and try to copy, instead AE will save the project and crash. It happens if I use Cmd+C or Edit>Copy. It only happens when copying layers, I haven’t had it happen while copying anything else yet.
Has anyone had this problem before? Any help would be much appreciated!

Can you be more specific on what you are copying?
Can you not use duplicate instead? -
To clarify:
Duplicate works (but doesn’t quite help me copy a layer from one comp to another).
Copy doesn’t work (hotkey or through the Edit tab)
Cut doesn’t work (hotkey or through Edit tab)
Copy With Property Links and Copy with Relative Links also doesn’t work, but crashes while saving instead of crashing after saving. I have to Force Quit with this one.That’s all I’ve found so far.
Computer specs:
iMac Pro (2017)
3GHz Intel Xeon W
64 GB 2666 MHz DDR4
Radeon Pro Vega 64 16 GB-Chris

I would suggest resetting your preferences as the first troubleshooting step. Hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS) while starting After Effects.
