After an installing from scratches of MacOSX, QT and FS2, you will find that you have like a “35% of Items out of Order” if you run Diskwarrior. A real mess.
I would start by optimizing the system.

Actually that’s a very good call. One bad piece of media will cause FCP to fail. One thing I’ve done in the past is to Open the project, if FCP opens fine great. Then step through my timeline shot by shot until it crashes. Then delete that piece of media from the array and re-open the project.
Very good idea there and I completely forgot about that suggestion.

I believe you are the winner. My ram was configured this way, Riser A: (2x 512mb)+(2x2gb), Riser B: (2x2gb)
So I changed it around to Riser A (4x2gb), Riser B (2x512mb)I’ve been working on it for about 8 or 9 hours since then and I haven’t had one crash. I’ve gotten the wheel of death, but it rights itself and fcp doesn’t crash. So I think Jason may have solved my problem.
Thanks,
Ryan -

Try 2 x 2 gig on each riser, forget about the 512s. You’ll be in stable FCP heaven I reckon.
