    What’s your favorite FCP5.0.X – 10.4.X – DL 5.X.X combination?

    I’m just curious as to what combination of the following seems happiest for you:

    OSX 10.4.X
    Decklink 5.X.X
    FCP 5.0.X
    Quicktime 7.X

    Please chime in. Now that there are multiple upgrades from the .0 versions of each- there seems to be a wide array of combinations that will produce a more or less stable system. Obviously some combinations flat out won’t work- so what I’m wondering is what has been working BEST for you.

    I’m sure we are all aware that upgrading one thing can often kill another and I’m at a point where I can do a fresh install (and I’m not entirely convinced that a complete upgrade to the latest of all versions is neccessarily the best).

    Thanks for your input! I hope this thread can help a lot of people with the same thoughts.

    The latest recommended and tested software versions are listed at DeckLink Minimum System Requirements for Mac OS X

    Please don’t take this as a trolling response, but I am finding the BMD website to be somewhat hard to keep up with. Basically what you and the support site are both saying is that ALL of the following are current configs:

    OSX 10.4.2 / QT 7.0.3 / FCP 5.0.3 / BMD 5.1.2 – config. for #1 support question “OSX 10.4” on support page Nov 24th 05
    OSX 10.4.3 / QT 7.0.3 / FCP 5.0.3 / BMD 5.1.2 – config. from your link above Nov 25th 05
    OSX 10.4.3 / QT 7.0.3 / FCP 5.0.4 / BMD 5.2.4 – config. found under “all software & codecs” link from main page Dec 21st 05

    I’d just like to know what seems to be the most stable for people right now (at least with Decklink Extreme and SP card versions).

    Hi Jon,

    Thank you for highlighting the confusion information on our web site. I have now updated it so hopefully it appears to be consistant. Often when new versions of Mac OS X, FCP, QT or our drivers are released, we do not immediately update our “recommended configuration” notes until some days have gone by and we receive feedback from early adopters of the new software. However in this case it had been left too long and I appreciate your message.
