  • What’s with Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 Adjustment Layers??

Posted by Chris Repetti on October 18, 2013 at 9:58 pm

I’ve been looking for a few hours and I don’t know why this is so difficult. Does anyone know how to use adjustment layers in PPCS6 the way one would in After Effects (Draw a mask, apply an effect, feather said mask)?

It seems like it should be so simple but when I go to apply any number of Premiere’s wonderful garbage mattes to my adjustment layer, it blacks out the area outside the mask.

Am I doing this right? I’ve found the workaround online (drawing the mask in the titler, duplicating the track and applying all sorts of effects to the tracks). Shouldn’t this be a four step process?

    -Add adjustment layer
    -Draw Mask
    -Apply Effect
    -Feather Mask appropriately?

Forgive my ranting but this is frustrating. Please help!
