    Hey All,

Been working with the new SVP11 (current build) and a new Radeon HD 6870 and cannot even get 29.97 FPS preview(preview on Best Full on ONE AVCHD stream with no effects….what gives? After dropping almost $200 on a new Video card, even one on SV website listed as over 4x’s better preview I get this! Running fastest AMD hexacore, 16GB ram with an SSD system hard drive on a completely new build…..anyone have any pointers….this is really disappointing. Oh, and yes I enabled in under preferences and such….thanks in advance!

    Regards

    Hi;

I have an older nVideo Quadro FX 570. With Vegas 10 last year I played around with the GPU acceleration and learned that my system was faster just using my Intel Core2 quad-core.

    This is a useful utility:

    https://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2065/TechPowerUp_GPU-Z_v0.5.6.html

It helped me realize that GPU acceleration on my system with Vegas 10 was not good.

I do have Vegas 11 but have not installed it yet. When I do I will let everyone know if it works any better than Vegas 10.

I also highly recommend installing Process Explorer from SysInternals. After installing, go to Options/Tray Icons and enable them all. It shows me that my system is CPU-bound when rendering, and that 8 GB RAM is plenty. (Vegas during render does not use a lot of RAM, but RAM is nice for Dynamic Ram Preview).

    Good luck!

    Steve

    Hi,

Scott, what is the load of your GPU while you render or preview?

you may checked that by using a tool like the one mentioned by Stephen, or also the “EVGA precision” utility that you can freely download on their web site.

This would let us know if your GPU is actually being used, or not.

    Hope this helps,
    Frederic

    Thanks Guys,
I will check out those software items, I am only concerned with GPU PREVIEW, and don’t care about rendering times for AVC that much….and have only been looking for the golden egg of smooth preview! BTW, Steve I would guess that your Quadro card will not work for previewing in SVP 11. I have a Quadro FX 1700 and 4600 and neither work for GPU acceleration with the newest drivers….just something to think about…
    Thanks again!

    Hi,

I could personally see great preview perf improvements switching from VP10 to VP11. This with a GTX460.
