    hi all!

i’ve seen many times animations where flowers or brunches are revealed slowly, i was wondering if that is done using multiple masks, i’ve tried to do it but i can’t get it right, the same happens with ribons, are they revealed using masks as well. i would appreciate is someone could clarify it and may be point out a good tutorial.

    thanks a lot

As far as the ribbons, I’ve seen them talked about in many different ways:

    1. Use Invigerator or Forge Freeform in AE to create a curved 3D surface. Then map growing lines onto the surface of them.

    2. For the rounded end look and not flat ribbons, you always have 3D stroke.

    3. In Many 3D programs you create a long, thin flat plane and make it flow along a curve in true 3D space.

and my favorite (And what I think is the easiest):

    4. In C4D, use a sweep nurbs. Create a path spline and a very thin rectangle as the swept shape. Then just animate the ‘grow’ parameter. Then like magic you have a growing ribbon. If you want it to twist then animate that parameter as well.
