Whats the best way to save out if imbedding in an email?
Hi there
Basically Im doing a 10 second banner animation for a company that they want embedded in their email, and that will load up quickly obviously. What is the best way to save out from after effects so its as small as possible? Ive also got Sorenson Squeeze, so im not sure if there is a better mode in that?

You don’t have much choice in the matter. Animated GIF is your only option and I wouldn’t create that in AE for reasons of file size and optimization. Render a MOV from AE and create the GIF in ImageReady by importing the MOV. There is no alternative to GIFs as any halfway paranoid system admin will configure his e-mail program to block all active content (Flash, QT etc.) for reasons of security (You know, there is things out there called worms, viruses, trojans and phishing mails). Even their GIF will not show up in many cases for similar reasons though it is at least natively supported.

A 10 sec GIF animation is going to be huge, far bigger than the cut-off limits set by 95% of the system adminstrators who will determine if your email makes it through or not. It is highly unlikely that this email will make it anywhere. As someone who creates newsletters that have banners in them, I would never accept a 10 sec GIF animation, as it would mean that that week’s newsletter would be a waste of time creating as no one would see it.
Hate to be so direct but those are the facts.
