I have been making video graphics for my church and we have 3 projectors on stage that use to put up images. I’ve recently been working with doing video to span across the three projectors with things flowing from one screen to another. The way I have been doing it is I make an unusual sequence format of 3172 x 768.

Once I’ve made the video using my template for the screen format, I export this video as an H.264 at around 14mbps. Then I take this unusually formatted video and scale it to the appropriate video size on a new sequence with a resolution of 1024 x 768(This is the resolution we use for our screens.) I have found that doing this does make us lose quality a bit. Is there a better way I should be doing this? Making three separate videos and trying to sync things flying in between screens is difficult.

The cleanest solution is to create one video and play it using hardware/software that supports video tiling aka video wall matrix aka architectural video walls.

    There’s two options:
    – playback of separate (but related) files on separate machines / networked devices (that can be synced with midi / osc etc )

    – acquire an external device to play back 1 x very wide video ( eg 2 or 3 screens wide ) – while ‘tricking’ your computer into thinking it now has one wide display. The device will take care of splitting up that wide image to separate screens.

Cheapest option: the triplehead to go ( there’s a few varieties ) https://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/th2go/displayport/

    Better : Datapath

    Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! I think that Matrox tripplehead2go box would be a big help for us. Its a good price too!
