What’s in the box?
Posted by John Kaley on January 23, 2007 at 8:28 pmOur IT department does all of our software installs. They claim that all that shipped with vers.10 was the install disk and a Quickstart manual. Is this true? Is all of the documentation electronic now? Thanks!

January 23, 2007 at 8:33 pmthis is true – the help is now HTML based (installed as a language pack, included on the install disc)
I don’t think R9 came with printed manuals either – only PDF (C4D 8 was the last printed manual)
I think you can purchase a manual from Maxon if you really want one.

January 23, 2007 at 9:38 pmAFAIK MAXON only offered a printed manual for v9 (for additional costs). CINEMa 4D 10 is only available with the online help which basically offers the complete documentation as searchable HTML pages.

January 23, 2007 at 10:57 pmThere’s been a lot of debate over whether this is a good thing, but I personally think it’s great. You can right-click any parameter in the Attributes Manager and there’s a help link that takes your directly to the relevant part of the html docs. Much faster than looking it up in the paper manual or .pdf.
