  • What’s happening to my memory?

Having big problems with my Mac. I’ve got an early version of a PowerMac G5 (so early it only has one processor) with a 75 gig hard drive. I’m working on a project and was seeing some memory issues when the HD memory got down to about 12 free gigs. So I bought an external hard drive and transferred over my project, leaving me with 53 gigs free.

Now I’m having more memory problems than ever. For instance, I was working on my FCP project, then shut it down. I came back a few hours later and was told I didn’t have enough memory to open all six sequences. In disbelief, I restarted everything and this time I had even less memory, allowing me to open only 1 sequence in the project. WTF???

My HD still reads 53 gigs free. Is something is eating up my RAM (or whatever Macs have)? Anyone know what’s going on and how I can fix this? Thanks.
