What’s everyone doing to find new biz in 2013? This old dog needs some new tricks…
Happy New Year! So, the resolution I really plan to keep is to ramp up my producing revenue in ’13. Besides DP work, which I have enough of, I am looking to increase the producing side of my business, mainly corporate, preferably Fortune 500s in the $5-50K range, trying to avoid the typical website videos for small companies and entrepreneurs. I have a marketing plan but it’s the same old, same old:
• Tickle current, old and dormant clients.
• Send out my brochures directed at execs known to need video like: Marketing, PR, Corp Comm, Sales, etc. Although an old school technique they have been very successful but it’s $1.50 each, so I can’t flood the area. Maybe send 250-400 out. They really work, it’s just a matter of luck if they reach the right person at the right time.
• Leverage my LinkedIn contacts: say hello, etc. Rekindling LI relationships has always worked well. Become more active in my LinkedIn groups.
• Update online directory listings.
• Attend networking meetings where execs needing video hang, such as marketing, PR, web design, etc. I no longer waste my time doing the Chamber of Commerce thing.
• Cut new sample reels and freshen up my websites, all are at least four years since fresh.
• Call in favors: I pass a lot of work around so there are folks who may be able to pay back the favor with leads.I already have high SEO but I find the prospects that come in through searches are tire kickers or too cheap, etc. although I can’t complain about the ones that do come through. I am not into the time suck of social media (hate Facebook) and I won’t do blatant spam.
So, is anyone doing something I haven’t thought of? Love to hear fresh ideas.
Thanks,
Ned
