  • What’s Better For SLOMOTON? 60fps source rendered on Timeline or 60fps converted to 23.98

How does converting from 60fps to 23.98 effect the timing of the clips?

    source – h264 1280×720 – 60fps

    Timeline – prores422 1920×1080 – 23.98fps

These are just some pickup slomo shots i had someone do.

The rest of my footage is prores422 1920×1080-23.98

So should I convert all these to the timeline specs or just render within the timeline?

    Thanks,

To convert the footage to Slow Motion, you first need to convert the footage to ProRes, 1280×720 60p…and then use CINEMA TOOLS to CONFORM it to 23.98.

I show you how to do that here:

btw. Shane, do you recommend Cinema Tools for going from Prores 29.97 to Prores 23.98?

Is there also a tutorial for that?

    Thanks

Cinema Tools will slow the footage down slightly. If you want to keep the same speed and duration, you need to use Compressor. Note…this won’t make the footage look like it was shot 23.98…and the missing frames will make it look like it skips a little. Because you did remove frames…no way to avoid that.

In Compressor, you’ll have to set the section in the Inspector pertaining to conversion…I think it’s called FRAMES…I don’t remember. It no longer works on my OS and I don’t use the latest one. But you’ll have to set all those settings to BEST, and the conversion will take a LONG TIME.
