What you want from this forum
Posted by David Battistella on May 14, 2010 at 7:45 pmThis is a fairly new forum at the Cow and I am in very good company with Digital Expert Gary Adcock.
I just thought I would start this thread to get a feeling for what you would like to see from this forum.
Is it more Alexa focused?
Is it about ARRI laser?
Is about Digital post workflow?
Folow focus and Matte Box choices?
Camera gear?
Imagers?Chime in.

May 16, 2010 at 5:04 pmMostly interested in ALEXA, we are watching this camera trend very carefully.
However, everything you mention is of interest as well.

May 16, 2010 at 10:13 pmHello ARRI Forum…
I was not surprised to see the back and forth ARRI VS RED
argument… My dad is bigger than your dad…. I’d like to see the forum stay professional and comment specifically on the ARRI camera and it’s related workflows.I’d like to see this forum for adopters of ARRI to share information
as to how they plan to use the camera in their market. We’re a large rental facility using mostly Panasonic P2 technology and have been waiting for ARRI to come out with a 35mm format camera for the last year.
I’d like to see tips shared on how to maximize the flexibility of this new tool. We have 2 on order, and are planning to buy the Cinedeck and the portable from 1-Beyond to take advantage of off-board uncompressed 4:4:4 for high end green screens..
We also plan to use telecast fiber copperheads to use the ARRI in multi-camera environments. Recording to external KiPro or the above mentioned recorders..
We do not shoot for film projection. We mostly shoot high end TV spots, entertainment, and corporate.
For this market, we like the flexibility of having Apple Pro-Res
right in the camera… And other compressions available via off-board.I’d love to hear what others think about ARRI accessories, like their lens, matte boxes etc…
Tnx… Gary

My guess is all of the above (Arri is lurking here)
And with Bob Monaghan hanging around here also, we have one of the best minds I know of on ArriRaw and the highend workflow for that content in post.
My hope is that this forum will become one of the better resource places for working with Alexa and how to deal with her multiple workflows.
I even expect to see some discussion about Arri film scanners and cameras also.

That’s easy Gary,
Arri is one of the most respected names in hardware for Cinematic productions.
Arri’s association with Zeiss have produced some of the best lensing that money can buy with SuperSpeeds, MasterPrimes and the DIgiPrime brands the most respected. I have always been a fan of Fujinon Lenses and am not surprised that Arri teamed with Fujinon to give us top quality glass at an affordable price point.
Remember that the founders of Arri (Arnold and Richter) basically invented what is considered the modern film camera and the company has been building and designing professional camera products for over 90 years.
