    ok –
    so you tell me.
Will there be a new Mac Pro 2017, or a new iMac 2017 with USB 3.1 or Thunderbolt 3 ports ?
Will there be new support for Mac Pro’s or iMac’s for new GPU cards, faster processors ?
Or is the new 15″ Mac Book Pro with a dock the “state of the art” ?

So what does this mean ?
new Thunderbolt 3 monitors from LG ?
new Thunderbolt 3 (apple compatible) adaptors for Thunderbolt 2 products (from Promise, G-Tech, etc.)
new Thunderbolt 3 10G adaptors from Sonnet, ATTO, Promise (oops – Symply)
new Thunderbolt 3 40G adaptor (QNAP) from Sonnet, ATTO, Promise (oops – Symply)
new Thunderbolt 3 drive arrays ?
new Thunderbolt 3 direct attached Shared Storage systems (3 users only ) from Accusys ?
new everything from Sonnet and Highpoint (and Other World Computing – NewerTech)
new Thunderbolt 3 drive arrays from Cal Digit, Highpoint, JMR, Lacie, OWC, etc ?
new Thunderbolt 3 (Apple compatible) docks from OWC, Cal Digit, StarTech
new Corning Thunderbolt 3 optical extender cables ?
Will Mellanox (the current king of 40G networks) show up at NAB ?

are any of you going to say “screw my 2013 Cylinder – I am buying a new MB Pro with Tbolt 3”

And does this translate to “NAB #1 product lines will be from Sonnet and Highpoint”
Is NVidia, ATI and Cubix saying right now “SCREW YOU APPLE”.
And what computers will be in the Adobe booth ?

    YOU TELL ME !

I think we’ll see a sea of Dells and HPs.

iMacs will be refreshed, Mac Pros might as the new Intel chips that would make the most sense in a Mac Pro won’t ship until early next year (if we don’t see a new Mac Pro after the Intel chips ship then I think it’s officially dead). ThB 3 products have been trickling in this year and I think they will just ramp up next year and we’ll keep seeing mulit-port devices (USB 3 and Th3).

Thing is the new Touch Bar makes FCPX even faster with all the menus and buttons coming and going. How do we get that functionality on another Mac? Apple Touch Bar keyboard for iMac?

Truth is the new Macbook Pro, with the right drive array etc, may be enough to edit just about anything in the Pro Res realm…

It was at a Vegas premiere that I resolved to become an avid FCPX user.

If you compare specs, the fully loaded upcoming 15″ MBP isn’t that much better in its specs than a recent 15″ MBP with the custom config. The biggest bump up is the new GPU. I have one with the Nvidia GPU and it tends to do better with FCPX than any of the desktops I run. Of course, that’s not comparing rendering or other heavy lifting tasks.
