what video format to use when editing? for vimeo movies….noob questions.
Im using the video from my Flip HD. Its to large to use on my computer without first downsizing it to a smaller file. Im using magic video converter. whats the best codecs/format to use? (the projects are just going on Vimeo. For the first project i did, i downsized the videos to windows media WMV2/WMA2 640×360 then exported the project to h.264 640×360(suggested by vimeo). here are the results of the first project. https://www.vimeo.com/3089236 Anything i should do differently? Sorry if my jargon is awful im new to video editing.

You’ll always struggle if you find the Flip files too large to begin with. You’re losing a LOT of quality with these three downconverts. If quality is important to you, then I’d recommend not downconverting, but rather cross coding or transcoding.

they are 1280×720 at 64000 bitrate. one file is 1:26 and its about 120megs. they play choppy on my computer if i dont make them a smaller file. i did a quick google search for transcode/cross code but didnt find to much. can you explain a bit more?
