What USB/FireWire Capture Card?
Posted by Damir Licina on August 9, 2010 at 4:01 pmI was looking at https://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/ but it seems that it only supports USB 3.0.
Anything else you guys could reccomend in the same pricerange?
Help appreciated!

August 9, 2010 at 4:41 pmThe Intensity isn’t a USB capture device. It connects via PCIe on towers only. The Intensity Shuttle is Windows only, so it won’t work anyway. USB 3 support not on Macs either.
Your FireWire options are the AJA IOHD or Motu V4HD.

August 9, 2010 at 4:52 pmSteve, none if those options are FW or USB. They are PCIe and Express34 options. Just FYI.

These are all good options but I would like something in the pricerange of $250/€200 just to get the VHS stuff I have at home to a digital format. OSX or Win doesnt really matter as long as I can capture the footage in decent quality.
Thanks again!

August 9, 2010 at 6:20 pmOhhhh…non-HD. Now were talking. Canopus ADVC 110. That’ll convert VHS to DV for capture. And is in that range.

My original post did mention that but I deleted the info. That’s what happens when we are guessing what the poster’s intensions are.
A cheap Mini DV camera can also be used.
