No clue. That’s the most ridiculous request I’ve ever heard. Vocals are always mono.

It may just be he needs a stereo audio stream on his end. Did you stream video with a mono audio stream? As John does, I use mostly Presonus audio interfaces, but mine are 1 Firepod, 2 Inspires and 1 Digidesign Mbox 2 mini. The Mbox works with Vegas as well if you have the correct windows driver installed for it. Danny

I’m on a forum (https://jwsoundgroup.net/) for pro audio people who do work like this for a living and that’s standard procedure for them for any kind of voice over or sit down single person interview.
This way the person editing it has a choice between the sound of the boom or the lav or a combination of both.

Thanks for clarifying that. I can see where it makes sense to use stereo if you have multiple sources of audio (e.g., boom and lav) …it makes absolutely no sense for a voice over recorded with one mic.

Hello,

One suggestion I may make is to use a Zoom H4N or H6. These are good recorders.
The H4N can record 4 tracks, two of which are onboard mics in stereo and the other 2 are balanced mic line XLR/TRS combo connectors with phantom power.
The H6has 6 inputs, 4 mic/line XLR/TRS combo inputs with phatom power and anther two input that have various connector you can use. It comes with a stereo mic combo, and a M/S mic, but you can buy other connectors such as 2 more additional XLR/TRS combo inputs. I use all of these and they work great!!!

The cool thing is these can also be used as USB sound devices for computers as well!!!

This would give you multiuse for video for audio off site as well as what you are asking about now. They are pretty reasonable in price as well. I have owned both, I sold my H4N for the H6 as I need 6 inputs for some of the audio I record live (symphonic, band, etc) and having that many inputs for video is nice as well.
If you need to send a lav and boom/room mic stereo, this could double as your boom/room mic and you can plug a lav into one of the inputs.

I’m currently using a Scarlett 2i4. Two channels in which can be either mic or line. I’m happy with it. I’m a VO guy, too. I do have a couple of clients who like for me to use two microphones simultaneously, in my case a Sennheiser 416 and Harlan Hogan’s VO mic, a custom version by MXL. The logic of the producers is they like to have one close mic and one with a little more room ambiance.
