What to Render to For Best Conversion Later On?
Hi there,
I have a series of 100 videos (each a separate Vegas project / ave 5min duration / HD footage) that I ultimately want to make available on the Web…
I’m having a company do the conversion (to flv for streaming and wmv for download) for each video. I need to render the projects first as they don’t work with Vegas…
What is the best format to render to?
I want to preserve as much quality as possible for them to play with when converting, so I’ve chosen uncompressed AVI. It will work out about 5500 GB in total though so I’ll need a few external hard drives!
Any better suggestions?

P.s. I only have Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9 but I’m willing to get the Pro version simply so I can do batch rendering. -

With HDV, .m2t, you can choose not to re-compress long GOP video in your prefs, and only video with effects and transitions are taking a hit. The rest is exactly as you recorded it, and it’s smaller than uncompressed by far. Vegas 7 and 8 pro, not 9 unfortunatly includes Cineform intermediate formats that do very well. Danny

Can I double check something…
I’m choosing to render with “MainConcept MPEG2 (mpg, m2v, m2t, mpa)” and the profile “HDV 1080-50i”. The “custom” button is greyed out so there’s not much I can change – there’s no reference to Cineform either.
Will this standard template be good enough? If not I can try and get a version of Pro 7 or 8 somehwere.
