  • What to put on my resume?

Posted by Erik Hermesman on April 4, 2005 at 10:54 pm

    hello,

I am going to be applying for an internship at a Post Production house.

My main goal in life is to make a living as a film/doc/ect. editor.

Iv been editing for 2 years now.

What should i put on my resume?

Do you think it would be wise to put my musical backround on it?

Thanks, and im looking forward to read your answers.

A musical background of any type is a definite asset to becoming a good editor. It means you develop an ear for rythm, if nothing else.
Often these days editors are required to generate music tracks using loops, and a musician can do bettre at this than a non-musician.

BTW, proof your CV better than you did your post, editing is a very detail-oriented job: any typos on a resume are a give-away that you don’t have that attention to detail.

I once lost a chance at a good job – technical writer – because I had a typo in my CV. Sad but true. Learned my lesson. But I still don’t check my posts that carefully.
