  • What to make of the new Canon EOS M?

I’ve been watching the release of the new EOS M and my first impression is that it’s ideal for cinematography. Mirrorless, quick autofocus, shorter flange focal distance so we can use all the classic lens mounts imaginable through adapters.

Is there anything not to like? Are there deal-killers that I haven’t noticed yet?

Not having a real viewfinder, (hope an aftermarket one is available someday), no headphone jack.but likeliy i’ll buy one for walking around use.slighly better than my iphone, not as handy. Lighter thn a 7d.not sure if it will replace my tm900 in that space.

Reminds of a mirrorless T2i or T3i or whatever. Cool for the consumer market. I’m sure it will make its way to the pro market soon. That or everyone is done with the DSLR thing and the fad has faded.

I do not think that DSLR video is fading anytime soon. The EOS M will take EF lenses thanks to the adapter, shown in this article.

Also having the same the Digic 5 processor as the EOS 7D and 60D is the seller for me.
