I often combine media from several different Canon DSLRs, a GoPro, a Sony handycam. When I begin a new project, I’m often at a loss as to what to choose. Any ideas?

I personally like to match my sequence to the settings of whatever I have the most footage from, that way there is less to render in the timeline. Just drag a clip onto the new sequence button and it will create one that most closely matches your footage.

That’s one way of doing it…. although it usually is a combination of footage and delivery resolution. I would try to avoid upscaling any video if at all possible.

An example would be, if you had a project that had 70% shot in 1080 and 30% shot in 720 with delivery in 720, I would work in a 720 timeline to avoid upscaling 30% just to downscale back to 720.
