So don’t commit. If you need to use it for 30 days buy it. If you don’t…skip it….
just uncheck the auto re-new box.
the value is better if you commit for a longer period…but you can go per 30 day period if you wish.
so now what you are talking $49 vs….$2000?
that’s all I’ll say on the subject…
not trying to be difficult…some ppl overlook this…

“It’s not just HD. It’s all the codecs and flavors that have been added since CS5 shut down production. CS5 is optimized for whatever codecs / frame rates were in production I guess two years or so ago now when it was stopped. So whatever has come along since then is now optimized in the newer versions.
Then CC went under the hood and made HUGE improvements in just about everything from media transfer to speed of the application to the codecs and formats. When we switch from CS6 to CC it’s like we’ve completely changed computers. It’s that much of a difference just in that one jump, can’t imagine what the jump is like from CS5 to CC.

Ditto. Now we keep finding reasons to download and use some apps we’ve never touched before like InDesign and Acrobat Pro.

Tacking on an additional 1/2 day to an edit I finished yesterday. Doing what? Why helping my client figure out how to do some stuff in Muse. Thanks to CC I have Muse. And I have Lynda.com. And they have money to give me. Situations like this seem to work out fine as far as I’m concerned.

Sigh… it’s never ending, the new video cards require OSX 10.8.3 which means upgrading my OS to add a new card which means Adobe CS5 software won’t work reliably, which means many other programs I own I’ll need to upgrade… (I do a lot of audio work).
The last time I went through this upgrading my Matrox DigiSuite/Max hardware it ended up costing over $5000 dollars to run one new product, that was when Matrox dropped Speed Razor (fabulous software) and made Premiere pretty much the only affordable choice for video editing with their hardware.
I’m too old for this…
I believe that software companies like companies in other fields, should be bound by law to maintain their products in a working state for 7 years… car manufacturers have to keep parts available for that long why not the computer/software industry? It makes the fact that they are the richest companies in the world understandable, doesn’t it? To spend thousands of dollars on something that only works for a year or two should be unacceptable… OK rant over, I’ll keep looking for a card that is compatible with what I’ve got.
Please don’t tell me that CC is the answer 😉 I understand the whole scenario, subscription based, new updates for free for ever, etc. all in the cloud forever…
BTW if you don’t commit to a full year it seems that the monthly fee is doubled, at least that is the case with CC Muse…

The other thing to note in terms of performance….
DV is a significantly simpler codec for your computer to process compared to the more modern flavors probably used by your camera to capture the data. Newer codes are many times more efficient, but that means they require that much more horsepower to simply display.
So it’s not just as simple as looking at the number of pixels in a frame…
